The history of Lecapitaine
Located in Normandy, where cattle raising and dairy products have always been the driving force of the region's economy, Lecapitaine, a pioneer bodybuilder, acted in response to a major requirement on the part of local stock breeders: to have a local partner producing utility vehicles for the transportation of their cattle. The Lecapitaine livestock truck came into being.
Just after the war, with the production of lorries with insulated body shells, which greatly improved the transportation of carcasses and dairy products, Lecapitaine developed towards more promising markets. Then, with the integration of refrigeration units into the vehicles produced, the Company reached a new milestone in its history: a refrigeration standard was established!
In the Eighties, preservation requirements for the perishable goods transportation sector generated specific needs: Lecapitaine's business took a logical turn towards the industrial production of modular, customised bodies.
In June 2000, Lecapitaine joined the Petit Forestier Group, establishing a company synergy where reciprocal cultures share a common form of expression founded on the refrigerated vehicle: the expertise of all those concerned is based on the same requirement criteria, fostering the Company's development.
Now, with its annual production exceeding 2,500 refrigerated bodies, Lecapitaine is recognised as being one of the leading vehicle refrigeration specialists.
